For Veterans

Hospice of Amador & Calaveras proudly supports veterans, including our patients as well as our veterans in the community at large, by partnering with local, as well as national organizations who help us fulfill our mission, and taking part in local events such as the American Legion Post 108’s annual Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Jackson.

We Honor Veterans Program

Hospice of Amador & Calaveras has earned the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization’s level of achievement, Four Star Level, in their “We Honor Veterans” program, a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Each level requires evidence of support and services to an agencies’ population in the form of a comprehensive report detailing its work. Level 4’s overarching criteria is to “Increase access and improve quality of care for Veterans in your community.” Since joining the program five years ago, HOAC has served 402 veteran patients and their families.

Vet-to-Vet Program

Within the We Honor Veterans program is “Vet-to-Vet,” which pairs local veteran volunteers with our hospice veteran patients. The camaraderie created between veterans has proven to be supportive for all involved through their unique ability to relate and connect with one another by way of a shared language and experience.
